Endorsements:

"Dr. Robert Powers has been a guiding light in my efforts to publish my first book. He has led me from being an amateurish, undisciplined nouveau writer to someone who has now created a book that is ready to be published. With a patient and gentle hand he has counseled me on the use of dynamic dialogue, creating tension, character development, and story line to reach my goal. It is with great confidence that I would recommend Dr. Powers as a Book Coach to anyone who has dreams of becoming a writer for the first time." Robert E. Osmon Captain, US Navy (RET).

“I’m grateful to have Bob Powers in my corner. I couldn’t recommend a better Book Coach. His experience, patience, professional and unbiased opinion are invaluable; pointing out crucial elements lacking in my original manuscript. My story is non-fiction, involving very sensitive and unfortunate circumstances. Fortunately, I was able to accept his constructive criticism…Bob holds back no punches! He has guided me towards necessary character development, dialogue, overall structure and balance that readers expect in a powerful novel. I’m confident with his assistance that I am well on my way towards creating a strong first novel." Frieda A. Adkins.

Coaching is sensitive to the needs of the Author, truthful and direct.

You need someone to review your material and tell you whether it is publishable... and give you hints and ideas!

It's very hard to "write alone".

One of your best days will be when your Book Coach tells you that

you have a "publishable" manuscript!

What makes a novel or book "publishable"? There are many things to consider, but the most important are:

  1. Is the "premise" good.

  2. Does it follow a logical "story arc" that is interesting and suspenseful?

  3. Are the main characters well developed? Does the Reader identify well with the primary character?

  4. Are the secondary characters well developed and interesting?

  5. Does the dialogue "sound" real? Is it well punctuated with description and action?

  6. Are the descriptions vivid, not too long and punctuated well with dialogue?

  7. Does it have well paced and well described action?

  8. Does the "story teller perspective", spelling, formatting, use of words, tense and syntax reflect a writer's capability (or close enough to be successfully coached)?

  9. Does it hold reader interest?

  10. Does the story build to an interesting ending?
